Oscar Johnson

Oscar Johnson was born Jan. 7, 1949, to the late Will Johnson and Gertrude Johnson of Luxora Oscar accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Johnny L. Williams. Preceding Oscar in death were his parents, Will and Gertrude Johnson; his wife, Dorothy Johnson; three brothers, Nazarene Johnson of Luxora, Lil Will Johnson of Oklahoma City, Will Edward Dodson of Marked Tree; and one sister, Freddie B. Moore of Elkhart, Ind. On Friday morning, Oct. 14, 2022, at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro, Oscar Johnson gained his wings.

His love will forever be cherished by one daughter, Donnice Haymon (Tyrone) of Osceola; one sister, Willie B. Sanders of Luxora; one brother, Ellis Johnson of Salem, Oregon; one stepson, Gary Smith of Jonesboro three grandsons, Romeo Kelley of Phoenix, Ariz., Jarvius Johnson and Rashad Johnson, both of Luxora; a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Oct. 22, from 1-1:55 p.m. at True Grace Gospel Church, 1221 W. Semmes Street, Osceola. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Internment will be at Luxora Cemetery in Luxora, with eulogy by Rev. Johnnie L. Williams.
