Geneva L. Porter

Geneva L. Porter died peacefully in Panama City, Fla., on May 7, 2022.

She was born in Rosa to Richard and Francis Lee. She graduated from Gosnell High School and lived the majority of her life in Memphis. Geneva retired as an executive secretary from A.E. Balkin and Associates. Her family and friends knew her best for her love of coffee, Snickers bars, Jason’s Deli and Grisanti’s Restaurant. She was a long-time member of Lindenwood Church. Family and friends also knew to never disturb her while she was watching her cherished Saint Louis Cardinals, the Grizzlies, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Geneva was soft spoken and fiercely independent. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, friend, and sister to her siblings.

She was preceded in death by her beloved sons, Ronnie and Joey; her parents, Richard and Francis Lee; brothers, Richard, Jr. and Joe; sister, Jeanette Viola.

She is survived by her daughter, Lee Ann of Panama City, Fla.; sisters, Elizabeth (Milton) Morgan of Fayetteville and Zelpha Arnold of Fountain Inn, S.C.; brothers, Charles (Helen)Lee of Senatobia, Miss., and Jerry Lee of Greers Ferry; grandchildren, Jeff, Chris, Bradley and Jennifer; 16 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren. She will also be greatly missed by numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 26, at 10:30 a.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ron Wilcoxson officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time at Cobb Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Geneva’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
