Fonzetta Booker of Blytheville was born Aug. 17, 1939, to the late Alfonso McKinney and the late Johnetta Funches McKinney. Mrs. Booker was an active and faithful member of New Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church, until her health would no longer allow her to attend. During her Christian walk with New Immanuel, she served in several capacities, as Sunday school secretary, president of the Pastor’s Aide, Trustee Board member, Mother Board member, choir member, and a member of the Golden Girls Choir. You would often hear her sing, “It is that Old Ship of Zion. I got on board early one morning, oh yes I did, I got on board.” Mrs. Booker passed away on May 17, 2022, in Blytheville at the age of 82. She was preceded in death by her father, Alfonso McKinney; her mother, Johnetta Funches McKinney; an infant daughter; daughters, Mary Booker, Sandra Booker; and brothers, Clarence McKinney and Alfonso McKinney Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Eddie Lee Booker of Blytheville; sons, Victor McKinney of Blytheville, Chris McKinney of Lafayette, La., Eddie Booker Jr. of Blytheville, Charles Booker of Blytheville and Vincent Lee Booker of Chicago, Ill.; daughters, Patricia (Ivory) Diamond, Shelby (Tommy) Smith and Georgia Jackson, all of Blytheville; brother, LJ McKinney of Chicago, Ill.; sisters, Josie Lewis of Memphis, Tenn., Gloria Edwards of Chicago, Ill., and Leatha Swift of Blytheville; a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be held Sunday, May 22, at New Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church from 1-2 p.m. with the funeral service immediately following at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Burton Furlow officiating. The burial will take place at Gethsemane Cemetery in Blytheville. Services are provided by Wilson Funeral Home Blytheville.
