Mari Ann Hayden, 77, of Leachville, passed from this life Friday, April 8, 2022, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Cardwell, Mo., to the late Jim and Nan McHaney Bridges, she had lived most of her life in Leachville and was a 1963 graduate of Leachville High School. Following high school Mari received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Arkansas State University and later a Master's Degree in Education Administration. She was a longtime educator having worked one year in the Manila School District, and 26 years with Buffalo Island Central Schools, including 15 years as the elementary principal. Mari was an avid sports enthusiast and was a fixture at the scorer's table keeping books for Leachville High School and later Buffalo Island Central. She had also served as the official scorekeeper for the NEA Tournament for many years. She served in many capacities including cheerleading sponsor and later as golf coach for BIC. Mari was a servant to others, whether it was giving someone a ride to a doctor's appointment, providing school supplies for students, or buying groceries for families in need, she was a light for Christ in her community. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Paul Wayne Hayden, and two brothers, John Paul Bridges and Ronnie Bridges.

Survivors include one brother, Mike Bridges (Nita) of Leachville; two sisters; Kathy Howell and Pam Bridges, both of Jonesboro.

A memorial service celebrating Mari's life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at the First Baptist Church in Leachville with Rev. Jason Sutfin, Mr. Tim Bassing, and Pastor Hayes Howell officiating.
