Sammie LeRoy Matthews

Sammie LeRoy Matthews was born July 26, 1967, in St. Louis, Mo., to the late John Henry Matthews and Mary Lee Wilson Matthews. He departed this life Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022, in Colorado Springs, Colo., at his home at the age of 54. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Johnny (Skip) Matthews, George Edward Matthews and Clarence William (Cisco) Matthews; three sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law.

Sammie was a kind and loving man, loved by many. He loved his wife and family. He will be greatly missed by arguing with his big sister and others in fun.

Sammie leave to cherish his memories his wife, Ruby Lee Matthews; two sons, Calvin Aldridge (Regina) and Sammie LeRoy (April) Matthews, all of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three daughters, Aneasiu (Keith) Proctor, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Marlena Matthews (Jasper) of Blytheville and Tonya Johnson of Little Rock; four sisters, Overseer Sherry (Lawrence L) Kennedy of Blytheville, Suzanne Tramble of Jonesboro, Eula B. Henderson of Gape Girardeau, Mo., and Betty Jane Matthews of Blytheville; three brothers, Willie Lee Matthews of Dallas, Texas, Robert Lee Matthews of Atlanta, Ga., and Casey Lee Matthews of Las Vegas, Nev.; six sisters-in-law; six brothers-in-law, 23 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, aunties, uncle, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 11, at St. Matthews Spiritual Temple, in Blytheville, from 5-7 p.m. Funeral service will be held Saturday, Feb. 12, at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew Spiritual Temple in Blytheville. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Blytheville.
