Frances Ann King
Frances Ann King, 80, of Blytheville, passed away Aug. 24, 2020, at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro.
Frances was born in Armorel to Luther and Zadie Phillips Battles. She was a former employee of Dr. Pepper Bottling Company, Brown Shoe Company and the Hodge Podge. Frances served alongside her husband Mitchell as the pastorís wife when he ministered at Woodland Corner Baptist Church until its closing in May of 2015. She and her husband then transferred their membership to Lone Oak Baptist Church. Frances was a great homemaker, and loved reading, cake decorating, painting, sewing and quilting.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell King, Sr.; her parents; three brothers, Carl Ivey, Billy Battles and Richard Battles; two sisters, Nora Carlock and Velear Isabelle; and son-in-law, Larry Christie.
Frances leaves four children, Tammy Christie of Little Rock, Sarah Welch and her husband Mike of Steele, Kathleen Franklin and her husband Allen of Steele and Mitchell King, Jr. and his wife Carrie of Blytheville; stepsister, Bernice Byrd of Gosnell; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be private with Rev. Mitchell King, Jr., Rev. Mike Welch and Rev. Billy Hardesty officiating. A walk-through viewing for friends will be held Friday, Aug. 28, from 4-6 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Lone Oak Baptist Church. Following the State of Arkansas COVID-19 guidelines, no more than 100 people will be allowed to gather inside of Cobb Funeral Home at one time and practice social distancing, keeping a 6-foot distance between one another.
