Lela Lucindia Ashley

Lela Lucindia Ashley, 39, of Monette, passed away Sunday, Aug. 18, 2019. She was born Oct. 13, 1979, in Memphis. Lela graduated Buffalo Island Central High School in 1998 and received her Master of Education in Elementary Education from Arkansas State University. She had taught for 18 years at Cross County, Senath, Riverside and finally at Buffalo Island Central. She was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority at Arkansas State University and a longtime member of the Monette United Methodist Church. She loved being a mother and watching her girls play softball. She enjoyed spending time with her family and will be remembered as a loving wife, daughter, mother, sister and friend.

She is survived by her husband, John Ashley; two daughters, Ella Grace and Ava Grace; her parents, Harry and Patricia Adams; her grandmother, Martha Ella Baldridge of Monette; a sister, Becky Graddy (Gregg); a brother, Bo Adams (Amber) of Lake City; an aunt, Linda Matthews; nieces, Jordan Sawyer (Joel), Sarah Beth Vaughn, Emma Graddy and Kamden Ashley; nephews, Alex Thompson, Ian Ashley, Isaac Moore and Gabe Adams; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robin and Carlotta Ashley; great-nephews and many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Devane Baldridge and Harry and Frankie Adams, as well as an aunt, Lela Lucindia, and an uncle, Mitch Baldridge.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, at the BIC Mustang Athletic Complex in Monette.

A celebration of her life will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at the BIC Mustang Athletic Complex in Monette with Revs. Jerry Reed and Rusty Bird officiating. Interment will follow at Monette Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Bishop Whitley, Justin Gathright, Brice Wells, Jarrett Cobb, Bob Hurst Jr. and Wade Gathright and honorary pallbearers will be the BIC Staff and facility.
