Harry David Parks

Harry David Parks, 85, of Manila, passed from this life Thursday, May 30, 2019, at his home. Born in the Lost Cane Community and raised in the Manila area, he was the son of the late John Samuel and Hallie Barger Parks. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and was retired from American Greetings in Osceola. He was also a retired Reserve Police Officer serving with both the Manila Police Department and the Blytheville Police Department. Harry was a charter member of Bethany Baptist Church in Manila.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Mary Parks; four brothers, Albert Parks, Robert Parks, Clarence Parks, E.L. Parks; three sisters, Ina Mae Parks, Hazel Cole, Carlean Bourland; and a daughter-in-law, Dianna Parks.

Survivors include two sons, Barry Parks and wife Tina, and Darrin Parks; his daughter, Angela McDowell and husband Ricky, all of Manila; a very special friend and companion, Glenda Curtwright of Manassas, Vir. He also leaves six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Brother John Wayne Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Manila Cemetery with Military Honors.

Active pallbearers will be Angela McDowell, Darrin Parks, Barry Parks, Victoria Thompson, Nicholas McDowell and Ricky McDowell. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Denton, Jr., Lance Parks and all of his friends from the Manila Senior Center.

The family will receive visitors Sunday evening from 6-8 at the funeral home.
