Patricia “Pat” Ecton

Patricia “Pat” Ecton of Blytheville suddenly departed her life Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019, at her home. Pat was born on June 5, 1957, in Blytheville to the union of the late Essie Jones Mangum and D.C. Mangum, Sr. She was raised by loving parents that instilled strong Christian values and principles in her. Pat was a kind, loving, and funny person. Her first job was at Pizza Hut. Growing up as a child in Blytheville, she was an active student in school and a faithful member at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church. Pat was a graduate of Blytheville High School.

Pat married Michael Ecton, Sr. and relocated to Joliet, Ill., and Houston, Texas. While living in Illinois, she was employed by Toys “R” Us. Pat and her family relocated to Houston where she was employed by Joske’s Department Store and the U.S. Passport Office. Upon returning home to Blytheville, Pat became the primary caregiver for her mother, Mrs. Essie Mae Mangum. Pat cared deeply for her family with a special love and concern for her grandchildren and her great-granddaughter. Her enormous sense of humor and love of life will be deeply missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Theresa Sharkey; and her brothers, Larry Ware and D.C. Mangum, Jr. The loving memories of Pat will be cherished for a lifetime by her three devoted children, Toni (John) Franklin of Blytheville; Michael Ecton, Jr. of Gosnell; and Marco Brown of Jonesboro. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter that she adored, Tanerica (Peter) Lane, Tay’veonna (Rahee) Hopkins, Tamaria Peoples, Nykeria Brown, Michael Ecton, III, and Kyre Ecton, all of Blytheville; Aa’Layah Foreman, Ayden Ecton, and Amare Ecton all of Gosnell; Mi’Kaveon Ecton, Mikyan Ecton of Fort Worth, Texas, and great-granddaughter, Sariah Hopkins, of Blytheville; two brothers, Marcus (Clara) Haynes of Memphis, Tenn., and Gary Mangum of Blytheville; three sisters, Jessie Haynes of Chicago, Ill., Anita (Gary) Hudson of Memphis, Tenn., and Brenda (Malcom) Williams of Olive Branch, Miss.; one uncle, Arthur Mangum of Blytheville, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Wilson Funeral Home, 1020 S. Division, Blytheville. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Faith and Glory Christian Fellowship Church, 1510 Kari Lane, Blytheville. Rev. Adron Poole is the pastor and minister Parlee Purnell pastor of While Truth Word of Faith Ministry Wynne is officiating. The burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Blytheville.
