Geneva Aaron Bullard, 89, surrounded by her family, on September 17, 2018 was released by angels from her earthly bonds to touch the face of God.

She was born December 22, 1928 in Kilbourne, Louisiana to Ben and Martha Aaron who were sharecroppers. She was the last surviving member of seven siblings.

Geneva moved to Tallulah, Louisiana in 1946 and worked her first job as a waitress in a local café. It was there she met the love of her life, Onward Bullard and they were married October 1950.

She worked for Bell Telephone as a switchboard operator for 19 years until 1970. She then became secretary at Brooks Noble Auto Parts for her husband who was the manager.

In 1976, Geneva and Onward moved to Blytheville and became the owners of Bullard’s Motor Supply. She was the secretary there for 25 more years until she fully retired. She spent most of the last 20 years of her life in Winter Haven, Florida where Onward and her enjoyed fishing, traveling, church, friends and each other’s company.

She was raised as a child during the Great Depression and knew the value of hard work and a dollar. Everything she ever had she earned, and was blessed by God far beyond her dreams because of her strong faith in Christ Jesus. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Blytheville for many years and loved to sing in the church choir.

She was a very generous person, who would do without, so her children could have the best that she could provide. She was naturally gifted at math and finances, and was strong in her convictions of what was right and what was wrong. She was an excellent cook of all Southern foods and always enjoyed cooking for her family and especially for her husband. She grew up poor and when she was financially able, she always made sure her children and husband were dressed well for church. She bought many suits and pairs of cowboy boots for her husband to make sure he always looked sharp on Sunday. His love for her will last for eternity.

She was preceded in death by her parents; all of her siblings; and her cherished son, Alan Ray.

Those left to honor her love and memory are her husband of 68 years, Onward; her children, Ted and his wife Kelly, Susan and her husband Roy Gaines and Jay and his wife Missy; ten grandchildren, Brad Bullard and his wife Robin, Justin Elliott and his wife Christy, Blake Bullard, Ryan Bullard, Jarred Elliott and his wife Krista, Brock Bullard and his wife Mandy, Jay Bullard, Jr. and his wife Mercedes, Jacob Elliott, Dylan Bullard and her only granddaughter, Julia Bullard; nine great-grandchildren, R.J. Bullard, Ian Bullard, Kinsley Bullard, Barrett Bullard, Carolyne Rose Bullard, Bailee Elliott, Jase Elliott, Jaxon Elliott and Ethan Elliott.

She also leaves her best friend, Ada Buchanan of Blytheville.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 22nd at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church with longtime pastor and treasured friend, Rev. Crawford Williams of Louisiana and grandson, Rev. Jarred Elliott of Newport, Arkansas officiating. Burial will follow Elmwood Cemetery. The family will greet friends for a celebration of Geneva’s life Friday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.cobbfuneralhome.com.
