Melvin Ransom

Melvin Ransom, 85, of Osceola died September 2, 2018 at Osceola Therapy and Living in Osceola. He was a retired gin worker, a member, deacon, trustee and choir member at St. John Full Gospel in Osceola.

Mr. Ransom was born October 16, 1932 in Indianola, MS to Arthur Ransom and Lizzie Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jessie Mae Ransom, two brothers Frank Ransom and Arthur Ransom, Jr., one sister Blanchie Elliott.

He is survived by three sons Christopher Ransom and Rickey Donald Ransom of Memphis and Kevin Ransom of Jonesboro, six daughters Marilyn Carter, Debbie Lynn Edwards, Vivian Ward and Janice Facon of Osceola, Brenda Maharaj of Gosnell, and Peggy Renee Ransom of Memphis, one brother Cornell Ransom of Indianola, MS, three sisters Muriel Pollard, Mellowniece Ransom and Glenda Ransom of Indianola, MS, 28 grandchildren, 67 great grandchildren, 13 great great grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday, September 7, 2018 from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. with the funeral at 12 pm at St. John Full Gospel Church in Osceola. Burial will be at Whiteside Cemetery in Osceola. Rev. R.L. Johnson will be officiating. Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola is in charge.
