Katherine Ruth Westbrook Dobson

Katherine Ruth Westbrook Dobson of Little Rock passed away peacefully on her 88th birthday, with her family by her side at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock.

Katherine was born in Jonesboro and moved to Blytheville with her family as a young girl. She worked in their family shoe stores “Westbrook Family Shoe Store” and “Paul’s Bootery”. She graduated from Blytheville High School and attended William Woods College. She was a stay at home mom during her twenty-four year marriage to Willie S. Dobson. She later worked for JC Penny and State Farm Insurance.

Katherine was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock, the Arkansas Glass Club and Diamond Charter Chapter of the Women’s Business Club. For the past 15 years Katherine has enjoyed her tele-bible study on Sunday mornings with Immanuel.

Katherine spent her last happy nine years with her loving care family at Mt. Carmel Community in Benton. She enjoyed her private apartment, daily exercise class, BINGO, field trips to name a few, and their yummy food!

She is preceded in death by her parents, James T. and Katherine M. Westbrook; and two brothers, James B. Westbrook and Paul L. Westbrook, Sr.

She is survived by one son, Michael E. Dobson; one daughter, Donna L. Dobson; one granddaughter, Tara M. Dobson Freeman (Billy); one grandson, Opie Battie; and four great grandchildren, Brett T. Dobson, Jill Ann Freeman, Katie Michelle Freeman and Lauren Freeman all of the Little Rock area; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 2nd at 11:00 a.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Cobb Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.cobbfuneralhome.com.
