James Wheeler Hendrix

Mr. James Wheeler Hendrix, 86, of Marked Tree, died Thursday, May 1, 2014, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born Sept. 22, 1927, in Alabama, he was a farm worker and a member of the Pentecostal faith.

His parents, John Hamm and Ida Hendrix, preceded him in death; as did his wife, Maxine Lee Hendrix; a daughter, Gail Armstrong; a son, Robert Hendrix; two sisters, Lizzie Travis and Mattie McMullen; and one brother, Loney Hendrix.

He leaves a daughter, Louise Buse of Harrisburg;

Two sons, Wayne Hendrix of Marked Tree and Carl Hendrix of Alabama;

A sister, Hattie Groom of Florida;

A brother, Johnny Hendrix of Lepanto; and

A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2014, at Wilson Funeral Home in Tyronza, with funeral services following at 1 p.m. with pastor David Fields officiating. Burial will take place in Marked Tree Cemetery with Wilson Funeral Home of Tyronza in charge of arrangements.
