George Sterling Brents

Mr. George Sterling Brents, 56, of Blytheville, passed from this life Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Blytheville to J.D. and Ruby May Aycock Brents, he was a retired machinist for Dawson Welding and was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.

He loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed time with his friends also. He also loved working on small machine engines and given enough time, he could figure out anything. George enjoyed listening to his music in the early morning hours and he loved the Arkansas Razorback and the St. Louis Cardinals and even played baseball in high school.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a former wife, Rena Pender.

He leaves his daughter, Jennifer Brents Roach, and her husband, Paul;

A sister, Kathy Darby and her husband, Terry;

Four grandchildren, Austin Dawson, Zachary Dawson, Ashley Roach and Jeremiah Roach;

A niece, Brentney Riggs, and her husband, Derek;

A nephew, Cade Darby;

Two great-nieces, Kennedy Riggs and Macy Darby; and

Three great-nephews, Mason Riggs, Jake Darby and Cody Darby, all of Blytheville.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Cobb Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Dogwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Cobb Funeral Home. Condolences may be emailed to cobbfuneralhome@sbcglobal.net
