Peggy June Brooks

Mrs. Peggy June Brooks, 69, of Manila, widow of Jimmy D. Brooks, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, at her home. Born in Keiser, she was the daughter of the late Otis and Mildred Crawford Bowman and had been a longtime Manila area resident. She was retired from American Greetings in Osceola and had been a longtime member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Manila. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Bowman and Gary Bowman.

She leaves her son, Jimmy L. Brooks of Manila;

Her daughter, Shelly Henderson of Manila;

Four brothers, Don Bowman of Osceola, Bill Bowman of Searcy, Steve Bowman of Leachville and Wayne Bowman of Mississippi;

One sister, Shirley Sammons of Manila; and

Three grandchildren, Jennifer Miller, Tucker Miller and Jimma Brooks.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with the Rev. William Piercy officiating. Burial will follow in Manila Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Brian Lee, Kenneth Johnson, Bill Yarbro, James Skinner, Larry Williams and Kelly Fields.
