Caraway

Hole D. "Toby" Wells, 83, of Caraway died Feb. 10, 2007, in Monette Manor Nursing Home at Monette. Born in Trumann on Jan. 23, 1924, he moved to Highbanks during the 1937 overflow. He has lived in the Bunny community since 1938, where he chopped and picked cotton until 1943. He then began working at the sawmill on the St. Francis River. He began farming for himself in 1955 and retired in 1982.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Syble Jewel Wells; a son, Douglas Hoyle Wells; and his parents, Lum and Pearl Wells.

Survivors include two daughters, Dru Ella Godfrey of Pensacola, Fla., and Deedra Yuvette Mosbey of Caraway; three sons, Donald Ray Wells of Piggott, Danny Kaye Wells of Starkville, Miss., and David Bruce Wells of Caraway; a brother, Doyle C. Wells of Arnold, Mo.; two sisters, Ella Mae Schorman of St. Louis and Doris Jean Bowsher of Las Vegas; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Gregg Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Albert Camp officiating. Burial will follow in the Caraway Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Larry Dunkerson, Bill Shirley, Johnny McCord, Ben Pettit, Laren Pettit and Keith Alexander. Honorary pallbearers will be Kermit McCord, Robert Anderson, Boyce Coggin, Wayne Nall, Helen Couch, and Russell Rhodes.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. this evening (Tuesday) at Gregg Funeral Home at Monette.
