Dale Ruddick has an analogy he uses to describe the human body's handling of stress, particularly around the holiday season when large meals and numerous visitors are positive, but may also be intimidating.. His example: "It's kind of like a wire cable that is built to lift and sustain weights of, let's say, up to 1,200 pounds," he said. "If it is lifting more, it has a likelihood it could break.
