Mrs. Joyce Mann Chiles Mathews left this world peacefully Thursday, May 6, 2011, to go to be with the Lord she loved.

Mrs. Bonnie Mae Smart Lendennie, 86, of Blytheville, passed from this life Thursday, May 12, 2011, at Great River Medical Center.

Mr. Tommy James, 71, of Osceola, died Friday, May 13, 2011, at Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti.

The defending 1A state softball champion Armorel Lady Tigers were ousted in the first round of this year's tournament after an 11-1 first-round loss in six innings to top-seeded Taylor Friday afternoon at the Blytheville Youth Sportsplex.

In a game that had the atmosphere and tension of a state championship game instead of a first round matchup, the fourth-seeded Armorel Tigers defeated the top-seeded Taylor Tigers, 8-4, Saturday afternoon.

The Blytheville Police Department will join local and national law enforcement officers and highway safety advocates all across the country for the 2011 national Click It or Ticket seat belt enforcement mobilization May 23-June 5.

About 200 people participated in the March of Dimes Walk for Babies Saturday morning, beginning at Walker Park. March of Dimes raised an estimated $10,000 for this year's event.

May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Monday, as designated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and local bike clubs are hoping to get vehicle drivers to "share the road" with motorcyclists.
