    A local youth program blends teaching Christian values with developing basic basketball skills.For three hours each Saturday morning the next few weeks, young people will fill the Family Life Center at First Baptist Blytheville, the host of the local Upward Basketball.

    On the 199th anniversary of one of the largest earthquakes ever to strike the United States, FEMA will begin a concerted effort to encourage all Americans to prepare for earthquakes and other disasters by making a new year's resolution to "Resolve to be Ready" in 2011.

    Blytheville Alderman Monte Hodges lives by a Bible verse: "To whom much is given, much is required." (Luke 12:48) As a result, Hodges recently returned from a 10-day trip to Nairobi, Kenya, on a mission trip with the First Assemblies of God.
