Emma Jean Gray Banks

Emma Jean Gray Banks of Blytheville was born May 4, 1949, the daughter of Rennie Gray and Everlena Gray. She was a graduate of Richard B. Harrison High School and Tennessee State University, receiving her master’s degree from Arkansas State University. Emma worked for 30 years as a social worker for the State of Arkansas. She was a licensed and ordained minister of the gospel and a member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, Emma transitioned at Great River Medical Center at the age of 73.

She leaves to cherish precious memories her daughter and son–in-law, Angela and Andre Anderson of McDonough, Ga.; her granddaughter, Ashanti Anderson, also of McDonough, Ga.; two brothers, William Gray of Gulfport, Miss., and Michael (Teresa) Gray of New Orleans, La.; eight sisters, Janet Gray of Memphis, Tenn., Evelyn (Arthur) Fisher, also of Memphis, Orneita (Dwayne) Burton of Abilene, Texas, Denice (George) Bland of Mustang, Okla., Lisa (Kenneth) Hunt of Sacramento, Calif., Treva Gray of Dallas, Texas, Donna Gray-Rice of Fresno, Calif., and Mona (H.E.) Jenkins of Abilene, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
