Calvin G. Davis

Calvin G. Davis, 85, of Dowagiac, Mich., passed away at Lakeland Community Hospital in Niles, Mich., on March 14, 2023, following a brief illness. He was born April 13, 1937, in Leachville, Ark., to the late Marion and Audie P. (Lyttaker) Davis. Calvin’s mother Audie passed away while he was very young and he was also raised by his stepmother, Lorene Davis.

Calvin enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served his country proudly, receiving an honorable discharge. Upon returning to civilian life, Calvin became a master electrician and worked at Contact for 25 years after retirement. He owned and operated Davis Electric for many years. He was a volunteer fireman and paramedic.

He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Marion and Lorene Davis; his mother, Audie Patricia Davis; a daughter, Barbara Jean Davis; siblings, Elsie Mae Mather, Lawanda Formon and Melvin Davis; as well as a son-in-law, Rex Clark.

Calvin leaves to cherish his memory, longtime companion of 21 years, Lula Edwards; his daughters, Vickie Clark of Bonham, Texas, Patricia (Billy) Carpenter of Leachville and Karen Brown of Lufkin, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Jerry Davis, Frances Bowman, Danny (Judy) Davis, Allen (Karen) Davis, Jackie (Rhonda) Davis and Myron (Mary) Davis, all of Paragould, and Bonnie Sue Pava.

Funeral services will be held at Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould on Saturday, March 18, at 1 p.m. with a time of visitation beginning one hour prior. An interment will follow at Cardwell Cemetery with full military honors.
