Lucy Laverne White

Lucy Laverne White, 83, of Blytheville, passed away Friday, Jan. 13, 2023, at her home.

Laverne was born in Blytheville to Bernard and Mattie Capwell Stark. She retired from Blytheville Air Force Base as the personnel supervisor, and later worked for Gosnell School District. Laverne loved her Lord and was a member of First Lutheran Church. She was a very generous person and would always help anyone in need. She had the most contagious laugh and was a very strong, independent and stubborn woman. Laverne’s family was the center of her life. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always enjoyed spending her time with them.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ron White; sisters, Christine Kornblum and Carrie Decker; and son-in-love, Gary Holmes.

Laverne is survived by her daughter, Linda Holmes of Blytheville; grandchildren, Gary Holmes II and his wife Meg of Etowah and Jake Holmes of Blytheville; great-grandchildren, Rhett and Tyler Holmes; brother, Joe Stark of Horseshoe Bend; brothers-in-law, Mike Kornblum of Springfield, Mo., and Bill Decker of Blytheville; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 20, at 2 p.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Eddie Clemons officiating. Burial will follow in Dogwood Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.cobbfuneralhome.com.
