Doretta Williams, born in Houston, Miss., Sept. 30, 1926, to the late Miles and June Etta Love entered into rest Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022, at 4:30 a.m. at the age of 95 years and three months.

She was preceded in death by her late husband, John D. Williams; daughter Mary Ann Williams, son Robert Williams and daughter Hattie Coleman (Williams); seven sisters, Annie Bell, Mary L. Love, Manervia, Lucinda, June Etta, Elizabeth and Dessie Lee; three brothers, Miles Love Jr., Anthony Williams Love and Willie Lee Love.

She leaves to mourn her loss John Henry Williams (Bernice), Rosetta Hill, Willie D. Williams, Sr. (Gwen), Melvin Williams (Linda), Verleather Steele (Gregory), all of Blytheville, Charles Williams of Edgemont, Ill., Ora Pulley of Long Beach, Calif., Rosie Williams of Indianapolis, Ind., and Clara Coleman (Moses) of Manchester Mo.; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Doretta received Christ at an early age and was instructed and guided by Him in her lifelong journey. She joined Faith Temple House of Prayer under the leadership of her son Bishop Robert Williams. She maintained her membership after his passing under the leadership of her grandson, Elder Willie D. Williams, Jr. She said, “Jesus taught me everything I know; how to treat my husband, cook, raise my children, how to clean my house and to love my enemies.” She loved to sing and praise God often in hymns when at home or in the church. One of her favorite songs was when you hear of my home going don’t worry about me and how well do I remember how Jesus took me in; she practiced living the life she sang about, she was also a prayer warrior, and her children would often hear her singing and praying.

She worked in church most of her life as treasurer, cook, was good with poems and giving them to all the children in church, she did whatever her hands could find to do and was mother of the church until she became ill and wasn’t able to walk well and attend church but she kept singing her hymns and praying at home and often asked about the church services, kept her faith in the Lord until her passing.

She was our mother and anchor, our dearest friend whom we look to see again someday in the resurrection of the just.

The visitation will be held Saturday, January 29, from 9-10 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Blytheville, the funeral immediately following at 10 a.m. with Elder Willie D. Williams, Jr. officiating. The burial will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Blytheville. Services are provided by Wilson Funeral home Blytheville.
