Loretta Cornish Cude

Loretta Cornish Cude, 82, of Leachville, widow of Perry Cude, passed from this life Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022, at the home of her daughter in Hornersville, Mo. Born and raised in Monette, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Opal Barnett Cornish and had attended Monette High School. She and her late husband moved to Leachville in 1961, where she lived until moving to her daughter's home approximately two years ago. Loretta was well known in the area, having served as the clerk/treasurer for the City of Leachville for several years. She also worked as the personal assistant to Bo and Myrna Adams for 18 years and retired from the Leachville Campus of Arkansas Northeastern College in 2017. Loretta was an avid archer, enjoyed working with stained glass and painting, as well as floral designing. In years past she had volunteered as a softball coach and enjoyed playing the sport as well. Loretta was a longtime member of the Leachville Church of Christ. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Jesse Cornish, Gary Cornish and Tom Cornish, and two sisters, Dettie Lula Cornish and Anna Marion "Ann" Johnson.

Survivors include two sons, Lynn Cude of Los Angeles, Calif., and John Cude of Santa Cruz, Calif.; daughter, Carol Hamrick (Mike) of Hornersville; three brothers, David Cornish of Jay, Fla., Mike Cornish of Calico Rock and Ricky Cornish of West Plains, Mo.; four sisters, Linda Womack and Pat Cook, both of Jonesboro, Nona Emmons of Alexandria, Tenn., and Rita Degges of Jonesboro. She also leaves her granddaughter, Rachel Carmichael, and great-granddaughter, Camille Carmichael.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Pastor Paul Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Leachville Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers will be Jackie Cude, Kenny Looney, Jerry Dillon, Harley Harvey, Sr., Wes Cornish and Wyatt Cornish.
