Carolyn Jean Denkins James, 63, of Osceola passed away Nov. 19, 2021, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. She was a retired cook and a member of Pilgrim Rest M.B. Church in Osceola. Ms. James was born May 23, 1958, in Osceola to Dallas Jones and Alberta Denkins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe Willie James; her grandparents, Ophelia and Elbert Denkins Sr.; one son, Elliott Denkins Sr.; two sisters, Louise Crawford and Stephanie Denkins; and one uncle, James Davidson.

She is survived by four sons, Anthony (Shonda) Denkins of Jonesboro, Brian Denkins of Jonesboro, Joe (Whitney) James Jr. of Osceola, Percy James of Osceola; four brothers, Lavon Denkins of St. Louis, Mo., Ricky, Leroy and Derrick Jones; nine sisters, Debra Neely of Milwaukee, Wis., Linda (Michael) Williams of Osceola, Cynthia Denkins of St. Louis, Mo., Carolyn, Nita, Pam, Barbara Ann, Tina and Jackie Jones; two uncles, Elbert (Connie) Denkins Jr. of Paducah, Ky., and Billy (Linda) Moore of Kalamazoo, Mich.; four aunts, Willie Lee (James) Love of Osceola, Alice Davidson of Chicago, Ill., Sarah Rowden of Osceola, Lula Harris of Osceola; 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; a very special friend, Bryan Brewer of Cherokee Village.

Visitation will be Saturday, Dec. 4, from 12-1:30 p.m. with the funeral to follow at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem M.B. Church. Burial will be at Whiteside Cemetery in Osceola with Rev. Cleveland Cain officiating. Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola is in charge of arrangements.
