Bertha Lee Newmy

Bertha Lee Newmy of Blytheville was born July 19, 1924, in Mississippi to the late Charlie Moore and the late Ellen Lee Moore. She was a homemaker and was a member of New St. Paul M.B. Church where she was on the Motherboard. Mrs. Newmy passed away Oct. 25, 2021, at the Great River Medical Center in Blytheville at the age of 97. She was preceded in death by her father, Charlie Moore; her mother, Ellen Moore; her husband, Rev. Jimmy Lee Newmy; two brothers, L.T. Moore and Howard Ray Moore; sister, Pauline Clay; one grandchild, three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She is survived by four sons, Jerry (Erma) Newmy of Milwaukee, Wis., Jimmy Newmy, Jr. and Joe (Bertha) Newmy, both of Blytheville and Samuel (Francine) Newmy of Illinois; three daughters, Lena Newmy of Milwaukee, Wis., and Dorothy (Pastor Donald) Jenkins and Jurlene (Don) Blair, both of Blytheville; a special grandchild raised as a son, Jerry Newmy, Jr.; 29 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, 29 great-great-grandchildren; and two lifelong friends, Mrs. Mary Atterberry and Alice Foster, both of Blytheville.

The visitation will be held Saturday, Nov. 6, from 9-10 a.m. at New St. Paul M.B. Church in Blytheville with the funeral immediately following at 10 a.m., with Pastor Clark Phillips officiating. The burial will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Blytheville. Services are provided by Wilson Funeral Home Blytheville.
