Shelley Ann Allette

Thursday, October 28, 2021

Shelley Ann Allette, 61, of Bonita Springs, Fla., entered into eternal life on Monday, Oct. 25, 2021. Shelley was born in Jamestown, N.Y., Jan. 4, 1960, the daughter of Eleanor Raye (Thorson) Allette and the late Michael Phillip Allette.

Shelley carried with her an unconditional love for life and blessed everyone with the gift of her perspective to savor all of the sweet, beautiful moments of life. Along the way she taught the world about kindness and patience, and through her vulnerabilities she gave insight into Christ’s love.

Shelley was a graduate of Jamestown High School Special Education Program and participated in day activity programs and workshop at Chautauqua County Resource Center for many years before moving to Kennett, Mo. In June of 2000, Shelley moved to Florida to enjoy the sunshine with her parents and family. Through LARC, she participated in vocational training where she formed many friendships.

Throughout her life, Shelley was active in Special Olympics and her community, serving through Catholic Charities, Food Pantry, Habitat for Humanity and many other civic organizations.

Shelley was an active member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Bonita Springs. The strength of Shelley’s faith was unyielding

Left to cherish her memory and continue her legacy are her mom, Eleanor (Ellie); and her five siblings, Pamela (James) Olson, Mary (Jerry) Mattern, Michael T. (Kelley) Allette, Jenny (Brian) Rigsby, and Sara (Ben) Catlett; 10 nieces and nephews, Karli (Jon) McCune, Joanna (Kieran) Stitt, Jimmy (Katie) Olson, Ben (Becky) Mattern, Jill (Danny) Reitano, Ryan (Taisha) Mattern, Caleb Rigsby, Alexa Rigsby, Jack Catlett, and Ella Catlett and 10 great-nieces and nephews. Also leaving behind Aunt Verna Davis, and many cousins all of whom she adored.

Shelley adored each person that crossed her path and was especially thankful for great friends that touched her life in so many ways.

Family, friends and fun were the cornerstone of Shelley’s life, she will be deeply missed yet lovingly remembered for years to come. For the best gift of all was the time she spent with each of us.

A Memorial Mass to celebrate her wonderful life will be held Friday, Oct. 29, at 2 p.m. at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 28300 Beaumont Rd., Bonita Springs, Fla. Private burial services will be held at Our Lady of Light Memorial Garden.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to STARability Foundation, Naples, Fla., or Naples Therapeutic Riding Center.
