Charles Sterling Tart

Friday, October 15, 2021

Charles Sterling Tart, 82, of Armorel, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021, at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro with his loving wife and family by his side.

Charlie was born in Blytheville to Charles and Ethel Tart. He served his country with honor in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Charlie was a dedicated and hardworking master electrician who retired from Nucor-Yamato Steel. He was a member of Armorel Baptist Church. He lived in the joy of Jesus everyday and looked forward to the day he would be standing amongst Him. To know Charlie was to know that he enjoyed the simple things in life like spending time with his family and the abundant love that he shared with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. But nothing compared to the love for his wife, Mary Linda (better known as “Mama” when being referred to by him). The love that Charlie and Mary Linda shared was a love that reflected biblical values and was full of laughter and joy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, J.B. Tart; and sister, Charlene Cullison.

Charlie is survived by his wife of almost 33 years, Mary Linda Holmes Tart of the home; children, Terri Doyle of Pace, Fla., and Chuck Tart of Springfield, Mo.; brother, James “Jim” Tart of Cave Springs; sisters, Martha Gunter of Greers Ferry, Brenda Darby of Seattle, Wash., Mary Turpin of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Diane Akers of Greers Ferry; grandchildren, Jessica Pierce (“Boogie”), Megan Chappell (“Mego”), Timothy Kirk and Brittany Nettles; and great-grandchildren, Boone-Owen Pierce, Burkeley-Cole Chappell, Bowie-Beckett Chappell, baby Chappell and Orlando Nettles.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 18, at 10:30 a.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Wofford officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time also at Cobb Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Macey Cemetery, located just North of Monette. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.cobbfuneralhome.com.
