Brother Leon White Jr., affectionately known as “Old School”, was born in Joiner on Feb. 29, 1952, to the late Brother Leon White Sr. and Lula White. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age. He became a member of the Green Acres of Church of Christ of Osceola. He was precede in death by his parents, (Leon Sr. and Lula White), and brother Calvin White.

Leon joined the Marines at the age of 18 and he served his country for eight years before exiting with an honorable discharge in 1978. He later moved to Chicago, Ill., where he worked for Joe Steinlauf Trucking and Tire Company. After a number of years, he moved to Blytheville, where he worked as a community car mechanic as well as a landscaper. Bro. Leon was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

Leon departed his life and entered eternal rest on Aug. 24, 2021, at his home in Osceola. He leaves to cherish his memory one son, Leon White lll of Osceola; one daughter, Victoria Stanford of Chicago; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He leaves seven sisters, Shirley Love of Maywood, Ill., Bettie (Willie) Partee and Barbara Mosley of Marion, Emma White and Deborah Ricketts (David) of Pittsburgh, Pa., Carolyn Tyler of Tyronza, Delois (Joe) Washington of Joiner; one brother, Jackie Dancy of Atlanta, Ga.; his best friends, Sam and Ila Scott of Trinity , Ala.; three special aunts, Flora Davis, Mary Williams and Ruby Williams; his favorite cousins, Johnny Wilson (who was more like a brother than a cousin) who was always there for him, we couldn’t have asked for anyone more caring, and a special cousin, Henry Glover.

A public viewing will be held Saturday, Sept. 4, from 12:00 (noon) until 12:55 p.m. at Osceola Church of Christ, 421 W. Semmes Ave., Osceola. At the request of the family a private service for the family only will follow at 1 p.m. Please respect the family wishes. Please wear a mask and practice social distance. Burial will be held at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 3600 AR-163, Cherry Valley, AR 72354.
