Iva Hawks

Monday, August 30, 2021

Iva Hawks departed this world on Aug. 26, 2021, at the age of 93. She has slipped the surly bounds of earth and has been reunited with the love her life, husband Randall. She was born Iva Louise Seay in Blytheville and lived her entire life here.

Iva had a long and fruitful life with a center around First Baptist Church of Blytheville. Iva served on almost every committee, planned most weddings over decades and worked tirelessly on sanctuary flowers and decoration. Although attending less regular in recent years, the church and its members still held a special place in her heart.

Family also defined Iva’s life. She traveled regularly across the country. However, the anchor for her was the family cabin at Hardy. Built by Randall and a work crew 60 years ago, the extended family was hosted by Iva for summers on Spring River. Still today, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren experience the best of Arkansas river life there.

Iva is survived by her four children, Randy, Brad, Stacy and Paige, and their families. She is also survived by her remaining sibling, Ann Hollenstein. She was cherished by her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family is especially grateful to the team of care givers who helped in these later years. They all became part of the Hawks family. Johnson and Birdie Stone were Iva’s support couple in earlier years. Paige, Wendy, Martha , Elnora, Sterling and Helen provided the ability for Iva to enjoy her home and family over the recent six years. We appreciate the staff at Monette Manor who helped in these last weeks. And thanks to all the friends and neighbors who were thoughtful with many gestures of kindness as Iva stayed closer to home.

She will be greatly missed by family, friends, the church community and the town. Her life was full to overflowing.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 30, at 1 p.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Bill Sullivan officiating. The family will receive friends at the family home immediately following the service until 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to First Baptist Church of Blytheville or St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.cobbfuneralhome.com.
