Frances Johnson Fryer

Frances Johnson Fryer was born March 14, 1941, in Henderson, Tenn., to Edgar and Vera Jones Johnson. Frances was educated in the Henderson School System and was a graduate of Lane College in Jackson, Tenn. Frances used her Bachelor’s Degree in Education to educate children for more than 40 years. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church. Frances was also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Mitchel Fryer; and her brother Louis Johnson. Frances passed away Thursday, July 22, 2021, at the Heritage Square Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Blytheville at the age of 80.

She leaves to cherish her memories three sons, Quinton Johnson of Louisville, Ky., Mitchel (Kenyatta) Fryer of West Memphis and Jonathan Fryer of El Paso, Texas; two daughters, Michelle Fryer (Bryant Denson) of Antioch, Tenn., and Miriam Fryer of Blytheville; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday, July 31, from 10 a.m. until services begin at noon at the church.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 31, at 12:00 noon at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 809 East Main Street, Blytheville, where Reverend Rickey Everett is the pastor. Reverend Frederick Clay, Sr. will deliver the eulogy with burial to follow on Monday, Aug. 2, at New Montezuma Church Cemetery in Henderson, Tenn.
