Johnny Richardson

Johnny Richardson, from Blytheville, passed away May 26, 2020, at the age of 81, in Southaven, Miss., surrounded by his immediate family.

Johnny was born in Blytheville to Wesley and Helen Richardson. He began his career at NAPA as a bicycle delivery man and worked his way up to machinist. He later became owner of JET Motor Part and Machine Shop. On March 31, 1957, he married the love of his life Betty McFall.

Johnny was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a spiritual man, devoting his life to his passion of serving others. He was an active member of Gideon International, speaking on occasion to congregations across the tri-state area. He served as deacon and youth minister for many years at Full Gospel Lighthouse in Blytheville. He later served as deacon of First Assembly of God Church, also in Blytheville. He chartered a program of jail ministry, witnessing and sharing his love of God with others. He was an excellent grill master, enjoying many special occasions with his family while presiding over the grill. Johnny and Betty also volunteered at the Blytheville-Gosnell Food Pantry for several years. For the last three years of his life, he and Betty lived at Lifepointe Village in Southaven, Miss.

Johnny is survived by his wife, Betty Richardson; his children, Danita Richardson and Sonia Andreas (Craig); his grandchildren, Ryan and Kayla Newcomb; his brothers, James Richardson, Ricky Mosley and Mike Mosley; his sisters, Ann Wooldridge and Paula Griffie. 

He is predeceased by his father, Wesley Andrew Richardson; his mother, Helen Marie Richardson; his grandmother, Birdie Richardson; and his grandfather, Wesley Richardson.

He was a humble man, always putting others before himself. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.

A Memorial will be held Friday, July 23, at 2 p.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Terri Brassfield officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time at Cobb Funeral Home.
