Edith Sellers was born in Blytheville Dec. 11, 1945, to Geneva Lester. As a young woman, Edith moved her family to Chicago, Ill., where she was employed by the Chicago Transit Authority as a bus driver. In 1975, Edith joined Messiah Temple Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. B.S. Saulsby. In 1988 Edith became a member of Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ under the pastorage of Administrative Assistant R.C. Edwards where she remained a dutiful and faithful servant for the Lord until 2012. Upon retirement, Edith moved back to Blytheville in 2012 where she resumed membership at West End Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Andrew Mitchell as her pastor.

On Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021, God dispatched a loving angel to reward Edith for a job well done, thus giving her a crown of righteousness at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro at the age of 75.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Geneva Lester Cammon; her husband, Jesse Sellers; and a sister, Jeanette Chapman.

Gone but never to be forgotten, Edith leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Jerry Lester of Blytheville and Danny Darkins of Manvel, Texas; two daughters, Doris Lester and Patricia Weeden, both of Milwaukee, Wis.; one brother, Mike Lester of Blytheville; five sisters; Jerlean Mixon of Pittsburg, Calif., Kathy (Sammy) Dodd of Blytheville, Peggy Smith of Blytheville, Matharine Lester of Greenville, S.C., and Debra Lester also of Blytheville; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will he held Thursday, March 4, from 9-10:45 a.m. at Prince of Peace Church, 501 East McHaney Street, Blytheville, where Minister Terrell Rogers is the pastor.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 4, at 11 a.m. at Prince of Peace, Reverend Andrew Mitchell will deliver the eulogy with entombment to follow at the Dogwood Cemetery Mausoleum.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions seating is reserved for designated family and friends. Services will be streamed live on the McDonald-Horne Funeral Home Facebook site.

In accordance with the CDC, and the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines, all attending the visitation and funeral service are required to social distance, wear a mask and have their temperature taken.
