Jerry Hauptman, 79, of Lake City passed away Monday, January 11, 2021 at NEA Baptist Hospital. He was born Oct. 1, 1941, in Dyess to the late Eddie and Kittie Hutcheson Hauptman. Jerry was a truck driver and retired from Yellow Freight Company. He enjoyed watching and coaching baseball, gardening and yard sales. He loved his family dearly and loved taking his grandchildren fishing. In December he and Shirley celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

He is survived by wife, Shirley Louise Gossett Hauptman; children, Tonya Kaye Harris (JD), Sonya Gaye Ragsdale (Lee), Kimberly Diane Hauptman and Jeremy “Bear” Kane Hauptman (LaTasha); sisters, Juanita Stilwell and Martha Jo Stracener; grandchildren, Carla Denise Hauptman, Richard Todd Pounds (Linsay), Alexis Danyel O’Dell (Cody), Ethan Laine Slaughter, Carlin Wade Slaughter, Drake David, Danielle Lynn and Kaylee Jolene Hauptman; great-grandchildren, Evan Allen Segraves, Gage Cole Alsup, Emalynn Rose Pounds, and one on the way.

The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Lake City Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home.

All attendees must wear masks and observe social distancing guidelines.
