Melbourn Wayne “Bo” Sefers

Melbourn Wayne “Bo” Sefers of Jonesboro died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020, in Jonesboro at the age of 91 years and 21 days. He was born Tuesday, Dec. 10, 1929, in Lake City to the late Charlie and Zelma Huggins Sefers and had lived in Jonesboro for 12 years coming from Atlanta, Ga. He was a retired sports auditor, a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was also a member of the VFW and the American Legion with sports being his main passion. He was preceded in death by one brother, two sisters and his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Helen Ryan Sefers of the home; six sons, Ronnie Sefers of Memphis, Mike (Yunmi) Sefers of Jonesboro, Bob (Irma) Sefers of Rock Hill, S.C., Steve (Melissa) Sefers of Hiram, Ga., Ray (Jeanette ) Sefers of Canton, Ga., Darrel (Jim) Sefers of Johns Creek, Ga.; two daughters, Donna McKelvey of Cummings, Ga. and Sherry (Bud) Rimert of Marietta, Ga.; 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Graveside service was Jan. 3 at Willis Cemetery with Father Alphonse officiating. Burial followed in Willis Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann in charge of arrangements. A funeral mass will be scheduled at a later date. In compliance with COVID-19 restrictions, social distancing was required along with face masks.
