Jean Vaughn

Jean Vaughn, 88, of Lake Village passed away Friday, Nov. 20, 2020. Jean was born in Fayette, Ala., on July 25, 1932, to the late C.J. and Omie Essery Kelley. She married Ellon Vaughn on July 25, 1949. She worked for the Bobbie Brooks Manufacturing Company at Lepanto from 1960-1968. They moved to Jonesville, La., in 1968 and she worked at the clothing factory there for a couple of years. Jean and Ellon moved to Lake Village in 1975. She became the manager at the LaVilla Motel in 1977 and in 1979 they purchased the motel and operated it until she retired in 2005. Jean enjoyed gardening, quilting and sewing. She was a member of Lake Village Baptist Church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ellon Vaughn; daughter, Vickie Vaughn; brother, Leroy Kelley and sister, Ann Craft.

Survivors include her sons, David (Debbie) Vaughn of Lake Village and Larry (Lisa) Vaughn of Monroe, La.; brothers, Rick Kelley of Wasco, Calif., and Thomas Kelley of Monticello; sisters, Rockell Vaughn of Lake Village and Elizabeth McKenzie of Cherokee Village; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services were held Monday, Nov. 23, 2020, at Lake Village Cemetery with Reverend Tim Chennault officiating. Arrangements were by Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service of Lake Village.
