Hazel Boren

Hazel Boren, 94, of Manila, widow of Gerald Boren, passed from this life Monday, Nov. 2, 2020, at the Manila Nursing Center. Born and raised in Manila, she was the daughter of Bert and Violet Eby Eubanks. Hazel graduated from Browns Spur School near Manila and attended college in Oklahoma. She and her late husband moved to Chicago, Ill., where they owned and operated a small factory that made munitions during the Vietnam War. In addition to operating a successful factory she was also a published songwriter with such songs to her credit as "The Teddy Bear Song" recorded by Barbara Fairchild and "I'm Gonna Hate You Right Out of My Mind" as well as the title track to the movie "Tender Kisses." In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Scott Eubanks and Oscar Eubanks.

Survivors include two nephews, Brad Eubanks and Jeff Eubanks; two nieces, Diane Wagner and Karen Burks.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Manila Cemetery with Rev. Jason Sutfin officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Manila. Online guest register is at www.howardfuneralservice.com.
