Evelyn Sarah Pate

Evelyn Sarah Pate, 91, of Blytheville, passed away Monday, Oct. 12, 2020, at Stonebridge Assisted Living.

Evelyn was born in Casa, Ark., to Luther and Edith Wagner Fitch. She was retired from Mississippi County where she worked as a deputy tax collector. Evelyn was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and a former member of Trinity Baptist Church where she served as the church secretary for several years. Family meant the most to Evelyn and she was actively involved with her children and their classes when they were in school. She volunteered at their schools, often baking cookies and being involved with any activities when she was needed. Evelyn enjoyed being outdoors and loved working in her yard. Evelyn was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Freeman Pate; and her brother, Harold Fitch.

Evelyn leaves two children, Sharon Collins and her husband Ron of Richmond, Vir., and Mike Pate and his wife Deborah of Blytheville; five grandchildren, Suzen Collins, Sarah Collins-Rodriguez and her husband Roger, Brian Collins, Ashley McGuirt and her husband Greg and Jana Gregson and her husband Michael; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 15, at 10:30 a.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Silvey officiating. Burial will follow in Pemiscot Memorial Gardens in Caruthersville, Mo. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time at Cobb Funeral Home.
