Willie Spencer, Jr. was born March 18, 1939, in Armorel to Willie and Nancy Cammon Spencer. He was of the Baptist faith accepting Christ at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church Barfield as a young man. Willie was a concrete worker and was known for his beautiful singing voice; he was given the nickname “Al Green” by his friends and family.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eva Spencer; brothers, Robert Spencer, Lee Edward Spencer, George L. Spencer, and David Spencer; sisters, Tilda Spencer and Lowrene Spencer. On Thursday, Oct. 1, 2020, Willie transitioned from this world at the West Memphis Health and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 81.

He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Tony Spencer and Gregory Spencer, both of Benton Harbor, Mich.; four daughters, Emma Jean Davis, Carlette Spencer, Sharon Spencer and Deanna Spencer, all of Benton Harbor, Mich.; two brothers, Eugene (Madge) Spencer of Benton Harbor, Mich., and Reverend Roy (Bimboli) Spencer of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Jerlene (Fessor) Lewis and Louise Spencer-Williams, both of Blytheville; and a host of grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews other family members and friends.

A walk-through visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 9, from 5-7 p.m. at McDonald-Horne Funeral Home, 1207 South Division Street, Blytheville.

Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, Oct. 10, at 11 a.m. at Gethsemane Gardens Cemetery. Reverend Roy Spencer will deliver the eulogy.

In compliance with COVID-19 restrictions social distancing will be required. Face masks are mandated to attend the visitation and funeral services.
