Dorothy Bell Cherry

Dorothy Bell Cherry was born Feb. 28, 1948 in Dell to William and Mattie Packard Bell.

Dorothy spent the early years of her life in Arkansas. She later moved to Apopka, Fla., where she began her career at Hermann Englemenn Greenhouse from 1996 to 2016 until her health failed. While in Florida, Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She spent the last few years of her life with family and friends in Blytheville.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William Bell and Mattie B Forrest; her husband, L.A. Cherry; three brothers, Walter Bell and Weldon Bell, and Willie B Forrest; one sister, Mattie Forrest Thomas; one daughter, Patricia Sapp; one granddaughter, Roberta Brewer; and one grandson, Cornelius Sapp.

Dorothy transitioned from this life on Monday Sept. 7, 2020, at Great River Medical Center in Blytheville at the age of 72.

She is survived by one brother, Earnest (Catherine) Bell of Apopka, Fla.; one sister, Birdie (Bishop Johnson) Stone of Blytheville; one son, Jerry Harp of Leesburg, Fla.; four daughters, Bobbie Mays of Winter Garden, Fla., Mary Radford, and Amie (Darren) Wells, both of Blytheville, and Angela (Leroy) Hines of Orlando, Fla.; 23 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Sept. 12, from 1 p.m. until funeral services begin at 2 p.m. at Prince of Peace Church , 501 East McHaney in Blytheville. Minister Terrell Rogers is the pastor. Elder Calvin Stone will deliver the eulogy with burial to follow in Gethsemane Garden Cemetery.

In compliance with COVID-19 restrictions, social distancing will be required along with face masks.

McDonald-Horne Funeral Home is in charge of services and arrangements.
