Blytheville police hunt suspect in Sunday's slaying of Wright

Blytheville police are looking for 31-year-old Jeremy Reed of Blytheville who is suspected in Sunday's slaying of 52-year-old Willie Wright of Blytheville.

" Reed should be considered armed and dangerous," Blytheville Police Chief Ross Thompson said.

According to Thompson, around 4:45 a.m., Sunday, police responded to the 800 block of East Rose in reference to a shooting.

"When officers arrived on scene they located a male victim in the yard of one of the residences," Thompson said. "Then victim, 52-year-old Willie Wright of Blytheville, was transported to the Great River Medical Center by ambulance, where he was later pronounced dead from his injuries. The investigation reveals that Mr. Wright and Reed are familiar with each other and engaged in a disagreement at a local convenience store shortly before the shooting. Information also indicates that Reed followed Mr. Wright to the 800 block of East Rose where he shot him."

He said with the aid of Skycop and cooperative witnesses, detectives were able to obtain a Murder 1st degree warrant on Reed.

"Officers have been searching for Reed since the time of the incident but he remains at large at this time," Thompson said. "Reed should be considered armed and dangerous.
