Virginia A. Evans of Trumann departed this life on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2020, at Quail Run Nursing Home in Trumann at the age of 94 years, 6 months and 17 days. She was born Friday, Jan. 22, 1926, in and was a lifetime resident of Trumann. She was the cafeteria manager for the Trumann School District. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Elbert “Charlie” Evans; one brother, Harold “ Tobe” Slinkard; three sisters, LaWanda “Bootsie” Pankey, Harriet Ann Slinkard and Willa Dean Slinkard; two great-grandchildren, Faith and Lucas Bruner, and her parents, Hiram S and Esther Irene Metcalf Slinkard.

She is survived by two sons, Danny (Patricia) Evans of Trumann and Teddy (Debbie) Evans of Batesville; two brothers, Bob Slinkard of Trumann and Howard Slinkard of Rogers; three sisters, Jerrie Sue Qualls of Rockford, Ill., Judy Dunman of Lake City and Nancy England of Trumann; seven grandchildren, DeAnna Ballard, Amanda Walter, Andrea Bruner, Sara Bobbitt, Wesley Evans, Dustin St. John and Misty Sturges; 11 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Aug. 11 at Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann. A Celebration of Life will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home with Joe Spangler officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro. In compliance with COVID-19 restrictions, social distancing will be required along with face masks.

Pallbearers will be Dustin St. John, Wesley Evans, Lee Ballard, Chris Walters, Adrian Walters, Tejaye Moye, Gary Bruner and Avery Bobbitt. Honorary pallbearers are the nursing staff of Quail Run Nursing Home.
