Mary Joe Lomax, 67, of Rector passed from the cares of this life to forever be with Jesus on Thursday July 16, 2020, at Gosnell Health and Rehab. She was born Jan. 25, 1953, in Boydsville to the late Omer and Thelma Francis Tucker Bearden. Mary Joe worked as a seamstress at Rector Sportswear and was a member of the Rector First General Baptist Church. She loved shopping, working in her flowers, fishing and camping, but most of all, she loved spending time with her grandkids, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, William Walls; one brother, Johnny Bearden.

Mary Joe is survived by her loving husband, John Clemmons Lomax Jr.; two daughters, Sandy Michele Pence and Joseph of Rector and Rachel Michelle Northington of Prattville, Ala.; one son, John Lomax III and Rhandi of Paragould; one sister, Nancy Loveless of Rector; one brother, Onis and Sharon Bearden of Eudora, Kan.; grandchildren, Kaylee Pence, Carter Pence, Malori Butler, Max Ward, John Banks Northington, Claire Lomax, Bryan Lomax; her dog, Timmy; along with a host of other special relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Sunday, July 19, from 2-3 p.m. at the Irby-Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Rector. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. with Bro. Ken Price officiating. Interment will be held at Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector.

Following the State of Arkansas COVID-19 guidelines, no more than 100 people will be allowed to gather inside of Irby-Mitchell Funeral Home at one time and practice social distancing, keeping a 6-foot distance between one another. Face masks are required to enter the building.
