Loyd “Popaton” Dunnam

Loyd “Popaton” Dunnam, 92, of Jonesboro and formerly of Blytheville, passed from this life on Saturday, June 27, 2020, at his home surrounded by his family.

Loyd was a retired employee of Blytheville Propane and a member of the Living Word Church in Jonesboro. Prior to leaving Blytheville, he was a faithful member of the Gospel Lighthouse Church for many years. Loyd was also a veteran of the United States Army, serving his country with honor during the Korean War.

Loyd was a person who was straight forward, trustworthy and honorable. He was an individual whose work ethics were an example of steadfastness. He loved to take his family fishing and playing games with them. He was very adept at raising a garden and he and his wife would spend many hours working and growing all different types of vegetables.

Loyd was a man brought up during hard times and was a part of a very special generation that asked for nothing but would give everything they had to help someone else. His life was one of example of actions and not just words.

Loyd was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 46 years, Beauton James “Momaton” Dunnam; three sisters, Katherine Dugger, Inez Cox and Ozell Marx; two brothers, Boxwell Dunnam and Raul Dunnam; and three great-grandchildren.

Surviving Loyd are his children, Ronald Loyd and Bonnie Dunnam of San Diego, Calif., Diane and Donald Razor of Jonesboro, Glen and Michele Dunnam of Jonesboro, Frances Annette McKellep of Carthage, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Nina James of Jonesboro.

Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, June 30, at 1 p.m. in the Dogwood Mausoleum in Dogwood Cemetery with Rev. Glen Dunnam officiating with Cobb Funeral Home in charge. There will be no visitation. Following the State of Arkansas COVID-19 guidelines for a graveside service: practice social distancing, keeping a 6-foot distance between one another and face masks are required.
