Danny Nathan Phillips, 74, of Hudson, Fla., former Leachville and Cardwell, Mo., resident, passed from this life Saturday, June 27, 2020, at the HPH Hospice Care Center in Brooksville, Fla. Born in Leachville, he was the son of the late Leonard and Roina Zumwalt Phillips and was a 1964 graduate of Leachville High School. Danny completed basic training in Ft. Riley, Kan., and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. When he returned home, he married the love of his life, Mary Frances McPherson-Smith, on Jan. 26, 1968, a union that would last for 50 years. They had lived over 40 years in Illinois, where Danny was a longtime employee of Loder-Croklaan Food Processors. Danny loved to cook and always provided his neighbors with delicious foods. He enjoyed fishing and gardening, and later in life became an avid reader. Following his retirement, Danny and Fran returned to Cardwell and lived there until her death in 2018. He had been a resident of Hudson, Fla., since 2018. 

Survivors include one son, Jeff Phillips of Gardner, Ill.; one daughter, Sheryl Thompson (Bill) of Hudson, Fla.; three brothers, Darrell Phillips (Connie), Norman Phillips and Joe Phillips (Gail). He also leaves four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, in the Cardwell Cemetery. Burial will be under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Leachville.
