During Blytheville Mayor James Sanders’ Monday press conference, he informed residents of a third COVID-19 death in Mississippi County.

Currently, for the state of Arkansas, there have been 16,083 positive cases, 5,063 active, 10,793 recoveries and 227 deaths. Meanwhile, the numbers in Mississippi County are 115 total positive cases with 90 recoveries and 22 active cases as of Tuesday afternoon.

Sanders, along with Police Chief Ross Thompson and Fire Chief Mike Carney, stated all the departments are 100 percent healthy.

Carney added that after speaking with health professionals since the last press conference the recommendation before being tested again is common sense and he also suggested waiting a few days after coming back from a trip for a better reading from the test.

Sanders added that the current 2020 Census participation numbers are 56.4 percent for the state of Arkansas, 47.6 percent for Mississippi County and 44.8 percent for Blytheville.
