Harold Van Swink

Harold Van Swink, 87, of Manila, passed from this life Tuesday, June 9, 2020, at Great River Medical Center in Blytheville. Born in Leachville, he was the son of the late James Lanis "J.L." and Elna Milligan Swink and was raised in Trumann. Van was a 1950 graduate of Trumann High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired from American Greetings in Osceola in 1995, and was a member of the Milligan Ridge Baptist Church near Manila. He enjoyed "tinkering with stuff" and could fix almost anything, he especially enjoyed time spent with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Edward Swink and J.L. "Son" Swink, Jr.; four sisters, Willine Bearden, Anita Costner, Deloris Dunigan and Dorothy Conrad Loveless; and one great-granddaughter, Adalyn Rose.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Ann Reed Swink; his son, Michael Pate of Buckeye; two daughters, Teresa Stevenson of Jonesboro and Holly Jackson and husband Dwight of Manila; one sister, Sue Swink of Trumann. He also leaves six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 12, at the Manila Cemetery with Debbie Costner giving the eulogy. Burial will follow under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Manila. Following Arkansas state guidelines social distancing will be required at all times.
