Jewel Smith Rouse

Jewel Smith Rouse of Trumann departed this life on Friday, May 1, 2020, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro at the age of 85 years, 5 months and 22 days. Mrs. Rouse was born Friday, Nov. 9, 1934, in Lepanto and lived most of her life in Trumann. She was a housewife and of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Rouse; one daughter, Barbara Ann Rouse; two sisters; three brothers and her parents, Wiley and Clara Evans Smith.

She is survived by three sons, Larry Rouse of Chester, Vir., Jimmy Rouse and wife Sandra of Trumann and Kenneth Rouse and wife Teresa of Harrisburg; two brothers, Edward Smith and James Hassell, both of Houston, Texas; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

In compliance with health and public safety directives, the funeral arrangements for Mrs. Rouse were private on Monday, May 4, with Reverend Ricky Dobbins officiating. Burial followed in Shiloh Cemetery near Harrisburg, under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann.
