Joe David Erwin, 68, of Blytheville, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at his home.

Joe was born in Blytheville to Carl and Cherr’e Heathcock Erwin. He retired from Nucor Yamato Steel after 27 years of service and was a member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church. Before working at Nucor, Joe worked for S.J. Cohen Construction company and helped build Nucor. Joe couldn’t sit still. He loved to work and tinker with things. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and singing karaoke.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Joe leaves his wife, Connie Howell Erwin of the home; three sons, Joe Erwin, Jr. and his wife Rachel of Dyersburg, Tenn., Chris Erwin and Jennifer of Maumelle and Willian “Bill” Erwin of Blytheville; two sisters, Carla Fowler of Blytheville and Sherry Harris Randall of Texarkana, Texas; and five grandchildren, Taylor, Caleigh Jo and Claire Erwin, all of Dyersburg, Tenn., and Brandon and Jordan Erwin of Maumelle.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at St. Stephens Episcopal Church with Pastor Katherine Wren officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. at 904 West Adams Street. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Stephens Episcopal Church or the Alzheimer’s Association. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.cobbfuneralhome.com.
