Jimmy Ray Riggs

Tuesday, February 25, 2020

Jimmy Ray Riggs, 73, of Marshall, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 21, 2020.

Jimmy was born in Blytheville to Eddie Ray and Nina June Lindsey Riggs. Jim proudly served the Lord, his family and friends. He served his country with honor as a soldier in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, and received the Bronze Star with Valor. Jim also served in the Army Reserves and the National Guard, and was a member of the VFW. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed going camping and was an avid fisherman. Jim also loved building military models. He always put others ahead of himself. Jim’s pewter coin that he carried for many years in his pocket stated, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” His life was an example of this verse.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Ray Riggs; his brother, Ricky Riggs; and sister-in-law, Nora Riggs.

Jim is survived by his wife, Cheryl Ann Riggs of Marshall; his mother, June Riggs of Blytheville; three sons, Philip Riggs and wife Jessi of Conway, Jamie Riggs and wife Chanta of Sherwood and Eric Riggs and wife Peggy of Sherwood; one brother, Tommy Riggs and wife Kathy of Blytheville; and a host of grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins.

Graveside services will be held Friday, Feb. 28, at 1 p.m. at Bloomfield Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo., 17357 Stars and Stripes Way, Bloomfield, Mo. 63825, with Rev. Danny Bradley and Mr. Morris Houston officiating. The family will receive friends Friday morning from 9-10 a.m. at Cobb Funeral Home.
